Scope of Work

The contract involves the Construction of Sidewalks on the following streets in Mount Forest, Township of Wellington North under Contract No. RFT 2024-004:

Project Locations

  1. Wellington Street East (between Main Street South and Fergus Street South)
  2. Wellington Street West (between Main Street South and Elgin Street South)
  3. Dublin Street (between Waterloo Street and Princess Ann Street)

Scope of Work Details

  1. Sidewalk Construction & Replacement
    • Installation of 638 m² of new concrete sidewalk.
    • Removal and replacement of deteriorated sections.
    • Application of sawcutting (230 m) to ensure smooth transitions.
    • Installation of new pedestrian ramps and accessibility improvements.
  2. Pavement and Roadway Adjustments
    • Hot Mix Asphalt (130 m²) resurfacing where needed.
    • Coordination of road closures and pedestrian detours for safety.
  3. Restoration & Finishing Work
    • Application of topsoil and sodding in disturbed areas.
    • Cleanup and debris removal to restore the site to a usable state.

Regulations and Compliance Requirements

The project must comply with the following regulations and standards:

  1. Accessibility Compliance:
    • All sidewalks and ramps must meet AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) standards.
  2. Workplace and Safety Compliance:
    • Adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
    • Compliance with Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM) Book 7 for traffic control.
    • Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all workers.
  3. Construction and Engineering Standards:
    • All concrete work must meet Ontario Provincial Standards (OPSS 1350).
    • Pavement work must comply with OPSS 310 – Hot Mix Asphalt Paving.
    • Utility and tree protection must follow Ontario Provincial Standard Drawings (OPSD).
  4. Permits and Approvals:
    • The contractor must obtain necessary municipal permits before work begins.
    • Any utility relocations or service interruptions require approval from the Township of Wellington North.
