The contract involves the Construction of Concrete Sidewalks, Curbs, and Gutters at various locations within the City of Kawartha Lakes. The awarded work consists of the following key tasks:
Concrete Infrastructure Work
- Removal and Replacement of Existing Concrete
- Removal of deteriorated concrete sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.
- Proper disposal of all demolished materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
- New Concrete Construction
- Installation of concrete sidewalks (125mm thickness for residential areas, 150mm for intersections and driveways).
- Concrete curb and gutter installation to replace deteriorated sections.
- Expansion joints installed at regular intervals for structural stability.
- Hot Mix Asphalt Restoration
- Removal and replacement of 50mm HL3 hot mix asphalt in designated areas.
- Adjustments to asphalt edges for smooth transitions.
- Excavation and Grading
- Excavation and removal of unsuitable subgrade materials.
- Replacement of compacted granular base (Granular ‘A’, 150mm depth) to support new concrete structures.
- Accessibility and Safety Enhancements
- Installation of Tactile Walking Surface Indicators (TWSI) at pedestrian crossings for accessibility compliance.
- Ensuring proper slope and grade compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
- Final Site Restoration and Landscaping
- Placement of topsoil and sod to restore disturbed areas.
- Grading and finishing work to ensure proper site drainage.
- Worksite Safety and Traffic Control
- Implementation of traffic control measures as per Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7.
- Daily site cleanup to maintain a safe working environment.
