Scope of Work
The contract involves the construction of an Accessible Ramp, Stairs, and Railings at Ben Franklin Place in Ottawa, Ontario. The awarded work consists of the following key tasks:
Construction and Installation
- Demolition and Site Preparation
- Removal of existing non-compliant structures, including old staircases and railings.
- Clearing and grading the designated work area to accommodate new construction.
- Accessible Ramp Installation
- Construction of a fully accessible, slip-resistant concrete ramp compliant with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.
- Integration of proper drainage solutions to prevent water accumulation.
- Staircase and Railing Construction
- Fabrication and installation of reinforced concrete stairs.
- Installation of handrails and guardrails meeting safety and accessibility standards.
- Application of non-slip coatings for enhanced safety.
- Lighting and Safety Enhancements
- Installation of LED lighting fixtures along the ramp and staircase to improve visibility.
- Placement of tactile walking surface indicators for visually impaired individuals.
- Final Site Finishing
- Landscaping and restoration of adjacent areas.
- Cleanup and removal of construction debris to ensure site readiness for public use.
