Scope of Work
The contract involves Concrete Sidewalk Construction in various locations within the Town of Essex. The awarded work consists of the following key tasks:
Sidewalk Construction & Rehabilitation
- Removal and Replacement of Existing Sidewalks
- Saw-cut and remove existing concrete and asphalt sidewalks and driveways as required.
- Excavation and disposal of sub-base materials (minimum 150mm depth).
- All removed materials must be transported to the Essex Centre Maintenance Facility.
- New Concrete Sidewalk Construction
- Installation of 1.5m-wide sidewalks (125mm thick, 30 MPa concrete with 7% air entrainment).
- At intersections and driveways, concrete thickness to be increased to 150mm.
- Expansion joints (12mm asphalt impregnated fibreboard) installed every 7.5m.
- Tactile Walking Surface Indicators at road crossings for accessibility compliance.
- Granular Base Preparation
- Supply and installation of Granular ‘A’ base (150mm depth).
- Watering and compacting per OPSS 1010 standards.
- Site Restoration & Landscaping
- Regrading and topsoil placement to restore disturbed areas.
- Hydroseeding and grass maintenance until fully established.
- Concrete edges must be free of excess materials and properly finished with a broomed surface.
- Traffic & Safety Measures
- Compliance with Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7 for work zone safety.
- Daily site clean-up, including removal of formwork and excess debris.
